$1.9 billion bill seeks to curb economic fallout.
The House Budget Committee has released its $1.9 trillion economic stimulus bill. The bill is the culmination of bipartisan talks, as well as measures passed by nine other House Committees. The bill is 591 pages long and includes measures such as an increase to the minimum wage and another round of direct stimulus payments to Americans.
Also included in the bill is $195.3 billion to states, $130.2 billion to local municipalities, and an additional $14 billion for vaccine distribution and research. Representative John Yarmuth, the chair of the budget committee, said, “We are in a race against time, and aggressive, bold action is needed before our nation is permanently scarred by the human and economic costs of inaction.”
